Kvaerner Stord AS has awarded Westad Industri AS a contract for supplying all butterfly valves for topside installation on the Edvard Grieg Platform.
Topside includes: deck frame, utility module, process module and living quarter. The contract covers all actuated- and manual butterfly valves produced in exotic materials like NiAlBz, SuperDuplex and Titanium.
Westad Industri AS have more than 100 years experience in advanced valve production and are still manufacturing at Geithus, Norway. Approximately 12.000 butterfly valves are installed and in full operation on several different platforms in the North Sea. This contract was placed based on the wide offshore experience and the well proven technical solutions provided by Westad ever since 1895. Furthermore, this new and important contract confirms Westad’s long traditions for deliveries to the North Sea.
The Topside engineering has been performed by Aker Solutions AS, deck frame and utility module will be build by Kvaerner Stord AS, the process module by Aker Egersund AS and the living quarters by Apply Leirvik AS. These modules will be mechanically complete and commissioned in April 2015.
Lundin Petroleum will be the operator of this platform and has a 50 percent working interest in the Edvard Grieg field. Wintershall and RWE Dea hold a 30 and a 20 percent interest, respectively.
